4 signatures for The Victorian Seamstress

Here are the four signatures for the Victorian Seamstress thatsjustpenny digi-kit.

They are complete with tucks and pockets, but these have not been filled yet.

They are looking pretty chunky!

I have already posted the first signature,  so numbers 2 to 4 follow -

Number 2 , left, has the signature cover shown at the bottom

Like the front, the reverse of Number 2 has lots of pockets, corner tucks,  and lots of other spaces so that the owner of the book can customize it.

Eventually there will also be lots of insertions of pictures, postcards, ephemera and little cards and zines to write in.

I shall also be adding some more embellishments like beads and charms

The next stage is to think about sewing the signatures together and making a cover.

I am a bit concerned about the eventual thickness of the book once all the inside pieces are added,  and whether it will be too chunky to manage, so it is still a work in progress and I will be posting the next stages as they happen.

Some interesting extras for the Victorian Seamstress

I love the Victorian Seamstress digikit from thatsjustpenny, but it is nice to add little extra touches outside of the kit images to make it your own.

So I have been looking at the Graphics Fairy website, which I love as it  has lots of free printable vintage images.

For example, these scissors above are great as they add little areas for writing in, and they fit the theme so well.

I found a rose that had a card with a "season's greetings" message so I removed this in Photoshop and now there is an generous area to write in. It is quite distressed looking but if you added some nice swirly and decorative writing it should look good!

A second rose also has an area for any text to be added

There is a little corner graphic here which fits the theme and could be turned to give a corner to each spread.

Another lovely vintage rose with a bee on it ...

....and a mother, rocking her baby with her foot so she can finish her sewing. I bet lots of us can identify with that!

All the pictures are downloadable and re-sizable, but if any one in the thatsjustpenny Design Team wants me to send them a jpg(s) just give me your email in messenger and I will send it and you can size it to whatever dimensions you want to print out.

VICTORIAN SEAMSTRESS - FIRST SIGNATURE

This is the first signature of the Victorian Seamstress Digikit from thatsjustpenny. I shall practice the binding on this signature using bookbinding needles and waxed thread.

This is my second junk journal as a Design Team member for thatsjustpenny and I am still having a great time!

As you can see this is a very pretty kit, full of vintage imagery, which I have used for the pages and the tucks which I have filled with cards and mementos. I have added ribbon and flower stickers.

I'll post the binding soon!

I am planning to have 4 signatures altogether.

Victorian Seamstess

This is my thatsjustpenny second kit as a member of the Design Team.
This is a really pretty set of vintage images to make a tiny journal

I've got all sorts of ribbon, fabric and transparent decoupage papers to add to the pages; I want to give lace edgings to the journal

I've even got old embroidery from a charity shop that I will use in my pages

I've downloaded a lovely floral burgundy paper as a thatsjustpenny site freebie, and changed the hue and added decorative elements from the digikit as extra pieces I can use as pages or collage

So i am really excited to get on with this and I will post videos from my YouTube channel soon

My junk journal using thatsjustpenny digikits is now finished

I used mainly the STEAMPUNK MUSIC OF TIME ZINE JOURNAL with some extras from VINTAGE STEAMPUNK BEAUTIES

and you can see lots of videos on how I put it together on my YouTube channel including making the journal and binding it.

The binding is a simple
3 hole binding.
The string comes up each outside hole and both ends go down into the centre hole where the ends are tied over at the back to form a lock
